'The Bling Ring' Premiere: Maddie's Recap
"Tuesday evening in Los Angeles was quite a memorable one, in which I attended the premiere of Sofia Coppola's new film, The Bling Ring, presented by A24 Films, Vanity Fair, and Louis Vuitton.
So, where to even begin? The premiere took place at the Director's Guild (7920 Sunset Blvd) in the heart of good old Hollywood. I took my place amongst the super serious paparazzi and other press people who were all there to catch a glimpse of some of the very important people in attendance, like Emma Watson and the writer and director herself, Sofia Coppola!
Sofia arriving in all her cropped, glittery jacket glory!
Claire Julien, and Israel Broussard, who play Chloe and Marc in The Bling Ring, arriving, and looking mighty fine as well!
Gavin Rossdale, who has a role in the film, and goddess Gwen Stefani arrived owning the title of best couple ever. Not that they had ever had to fight for it...
Also, there was no possible way for me not to freak out over Paris Hilton striding majestically into the building...
After about an hour of press pandemonium, it was finally time to enter the theater, and nothing was cooler than running into one of my fave actresses slash style icons, Chloë Sevigny on the way. I had a total fangirl moment, let's be real here.
I think this photo provides an accurate image of what was going on when Miss Emma Watson entered the room.
I mean, Chloë!
As I said, it was movie time! Personally, I was quite excited to finally see The Bling Ring because many of the actual events actually happened in my hometown, so it was very interesting to see Coppola's adaptation of the situation. I don't want to spill too many deets so everyone can go see the film, but I very much enjoyed it. I was most pleased with the amount of new faces—like Israel Broussard, Taissa Farmiga, Katie Chang, and Claire Julien—that Sofia cast as the main roles. The cherry on top was Emma Watson's performance as the perfectly delusional Nicki. Also, the cinematography was prime. And the opening credits sequence? I can't wait until you guys get to see it!
The film even got the double thumbs up from Jason Schwartzman.
Of course, you can only guess what happened next. The after party, which was appropriately held at the "legendary" Chateau Marmont (8221 Sunset Blvd) in West Hollywood, where Sofia actually filmed her recent work, Somewhere. My partner in crime for the evening, Vanessa, UO's associate social media manager, and I rolled up to the gate in kind of a shock! I never thought I'd be cool enough to enter the premises of the Chateau Marmont, but now was our chance!
As the cool summer evening wore on, we rubbed elbows with Paris Hilton, her model boyfriend River Viiperi, plus plenty of Hollywood's finest. We ate and drank some pretty yummy things, and danced to a super A+ DJ. On the way out, Vanessa and I managed to bump into Sofia, Chloë Sevigny, and Emma Watson all while picking up our car. Not a bad way to end the night.
Had to include this stealth photo of Paris, Taissa, and Israel at the Chateau!
A special thank you to A24 and Filter Magazine for inviting us to the event, and make sure you catch The Bling Ring out June 14 in New York and Los Angeles, and nationwide June 21! "—Maddie
